The sexy tennis movie I didn't know I needed

Let’s not deny that Zendaya in a smoking hot scene kissing two boys was the reason we were all curious about this movie. But with Luca Guadagnino sitting in the director seat, I had no doubts we were in for a treat.
Last night I was invited by Warner Brothers Canada to attend a Vancouver premiere of the film, Challengers. I was a bit surprised to find myself sitting at the edge of my seat watching a movie about a love triangle. The movie opens with Art Donaldson (Mike Faist) facing off with Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor) with Tashi Duncan (Zendaya) sitting on the sidelines. The match was fierce but the tensions on screen read there was more than meets the eye.
You’re then thrown into a non-linear timeline as you discover the relationships between Donaldson, Zweig, and Duncan while exploring the complex nature of a boyhood friendship especially when a girl comes into the picture. Where do lines blur when it comes to love and when should boundaries be put into place?
As I’m sitting here rehashing the film in my mind, I have THOUGHTS. And FEELINGS. But I’m not going to spoil anything until you watch it too.
Is this your typically love story? Nope. Is this even a love story? I mean… maybe?? But not really. It’s more a story about obsession.
The film gave a little bit of everything—spice, coming-of-age story, psychology, friendship, romance, and tennis…all accompanied by an amazing soundtrack. There were also several scenes where I had to sit back and just admire the gorgeous compositions and shots choices. Overall, I’m definitely a fan. I’m no movie critique by any means, but I can say I’m super excited for you to watch it when it comes into theatres on April 26!
Also I just love Zendaya THAT much more now. She was phenomenal in this movie.
If you do end up watching Challengers, reply my email and let me know what you thought about it! Or discuss it with me in our discord channel.
And if you’re a girlie reading this, tell me: are you team Art or team Patrick? (Or team Zendaya?!)
